We provide custom-made mouth guards for sports, and for conditions such as teeth grinding. The mouth guards are made to fit your mouth and teeth perfectly, so they offer the best possible comfort and protection.

Before appointment:

We carry out an assessment to see if you need a mouthguard or a nightguard and which one will suit you best. We will then book two appointments with you.

During appointment:

Appointment 1: We will take a impression of your teeth and send it to the laboratory

Appointment 2: We will check the fit of your mouthguard or bite guard and make any adjustments as necessary

After treatment:

We will provide you instructions about wearing your mouthguard. It usually takes a few weeks to get used to it. It can feel uncomfortable but should not feel painful.

FAQ

You may be grinding your teeth at night if you experience headaches, sore or painful jaw muscles, or clicking or popping noises when you open or close your mouth. Your dentist may also spot signs of unusual wear on your teeth, such as chips and cracks.

Using a mouth guard or mouth splint reduces the sensation of clenching or grinding your teeth. They also help reduce pain and prevent tooth wear, as well as protecting against further damage. Muscle-relaxation exercises can also help.

Although, like anything, when you are first fitted with one of these, it will feel strange, by persisting with it, eventually, you will get used to it. The more it is worn, the more your teeth will be protected against fractures and jaw ache and the more your muscles will be given time to relax.
